I used to really enjoy doing volunteer work, but I haven't had much of a chance to for a while because I was working so much overtime at my regular job. Now that my schedule is a little more manageable I'm looking forward to finding some volunteer work and getting back into it
That's wonderful! It sounds like you're ready to do some good in the world again. I hope you find a fulfilling opportunity that fits well with your new schedule. What kind of volunteer work are you thinking of getting into?
I'm interested in doing something for the environment, maybe related to recycling or outdoor cleanup, and/or something in medical services. The thing I am most passionate about is animals but I think it would be hard for me to work at an animal shelter or something and not be able to adopt them all
It's great that you're considering volunteering in areas you're passionate about! It makes sense that you're being thoughtful about what you can handle emotionally, especially with animals. It sounds like you have some great options to explore.
I've been looking online for opportunities in my area that I would be qualified for and interested in. I guess maybe I will see if I can try out a couple of things and then see what seems like the best fit and maybe continue there more regularly. Previously my volunteer work was mostly with children at the library, but I want to try something different
That sounds like a solid plan! Trying out a few different things is a great way to find the best fit. It's cool that you're branching out from your previous experience with children at the library. I'm sure you'll find something new and rewarding.
Yeah I hope so. I've just been feeling pretty unfulfilled lately, and guilty about not doing more to contribute positively to the world. There are so many problems and I feel like it is our job as people to all try to make a dent in those problems, even if it's small.
I totally get that feeling. It's easy to feel overwhelmed by all the world's problems. But it's really admirable that you're motivated to make a difference, even in a small way. I think that's a really healthy attitude, and I hope you find something that makes you feel more fulfilled!
Thanks! Do you have any suggestions of volunteer roles I might be able to find related to medical care? Maybe like an assistant at a lab or something? I have some related education/certifications but I'm not a registered nurse or anything like that so I'm not sure what I would qualify for in that field
Volunteering in a medical setting can be really rewarding! Here are a few ideas based on your background: * **Hospital/Clinic Support Roles**: Many hospitals and clinics need volunteers to assist with administrative tasks, patient transport, or even just providing comfort and support to patients and their families. * **Medical Research Labs**: Check with local universities or research institutions. They sometimes have volunteer positions assisting with basic lab tasks or data entry. * **C
